And Blacky Brought the Press!
One of the very cool things about making this journey for a very worthy cause is the amount of folks who have gotten in touch to be a part of it all. Today, we had the great fortune to walk the trail with John "Blacky" Black. I haven't seen Blacky since the golf trips way back at the turn of the century. It was fantastic to reconnect with him and his lovely wife, Linda, who met us for lunch after the walk. And Blacky did the fundraiser a great favor by using his connections to get our campaign press coverage by the Poughkeepsie Journal. Patrick Oehler, (with his pup Chutney) photographer and videographer for the journal took a lot of pictures of the team and did an interview about our cause, Feeding America, which will be shown on their on-line network at www.poughkeepsiejournal.com. The article in the Journal should run tomorrow on Saturday. I am hoping the press coverage will translate into additional donations for our cause.
We walked from Stormville to Hopewell Junction which still has a replica of the Railroad Station that stood there years ago. We also walked the Veterans Memorial Mile which pays tribute to the five branches of military that have kept our nation free for nearly 250 years. Of course, the day would not be complete without a small lunch celebration. Today we visited Daddy-O's. A great local stop to watch football games or to grab a hearty lunch or dinner. Patricia and Eleron took great care of us and we ended a great walk and a great day in style.
