Hunger is nothing new....

When I arrived at Macy Park in Ardsley, Ronan had told me to check out The Hunger Memorial. It is a beautiful sculpture done by Irish artist Eamonn O'Doherty. The sculpture depicts the time known as "AN GORTA MOR" or THE GREAT HUNGER. In the period from 1845 to 1851 over 1.5 million Irish people died in the famine. As our fundraiser is about feeding the hungry here in the USA, I thought it important to point out that hunger has been around since the dawn of time, but hopefully it does not have to last forever. The bottom of the write up says the sculpture should be a reminder "that never again should hunger persist in the midst of plenty."
